Copyright Position & Legal Battle
What We Offer
This bookstore offers two categories of books:
- Original L. Ron Hubbard Works (around a dozen in English and in German)
Unaltered texts as originally published, before the Church of Scientology rewrote them since 1972. - Critical Analysis & Investigative Research (around a dozen in English and in German)
Independent books examining Scientology, its history, and its takeover by the Deep State.
Public Domain Position
We maintain that the original works of L. Ron Hubbard offered here are in the Public Domain under applicable law for the following documented reasons:
1. HASI Dissolution (1977)
The original copyright holder, Hubbard Association of Scientologists International (HASI), to which L. Ron Hubbard transferred all rights, was dissolved by court order in 1977 without legal successor. Under copyright law, orphaned works without a valid successor enter Public Domain.
2. Pre-1978 U.S. Copyright Law Changes
All real LRH works were published before the 1978 Copyright Act revision. Original copyrights from that era have expired or were not properly renewed under the changed requirements.
3. Disputed Testamentary Transfer
The purported transfer of copyrights after "L. Ron Hubbard's death 1986" is legally contested and based on documents whose authenticity has been challenged.
4. Modified vs. Original Works
The New Management of the Church of Scientology rewrote L. Ron Hubbard's works since 1972, recently 2007 – changing text, removing passages, adding new material, and creating new covers. They claim copyright on these modified versions. We distribute only the original, unaltered works published during L. Ron Hubbard's lifetime.
Disputed Claims
We are aware that several organizations assert copyright ownership:
- Church of Spiritual Technology CST aka "L. Ron Hubbard Library"
- Church of Scientology International CSI
- Religious Technology Center RTC
- Author Services Inc. ASI
- Bridge Publications BP
- New Era Publications Inc NEPI
We respectfully disagree with these claims based on the legal analysis outlined above.
The Censorship Campaign
DMCA as a Weapon
The Church of Scientology has systematically weaponized the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) not to protect legitimate copyrights, but to suppress criticism and competition.
My Personal Story
In 2023, I was earning a comfortable five-figure annual income selling books through Amazon KDP and IngramSpark. My titles included:
- Original L. Ron Hubbard works (Public Domain)
- My own critical analysis of Scientology
- Other books unrelated to Scientology
What happened:
Phase 1: Shadowbanning
My books mysteriously stopped appearing in searches despite good rankings and reviews. Sales dried up overnight.
Phase 2: DMCA Takedowns
Church of Scientology entities filed DMCA notices against:
- Original LRH works (claiming copyright they don't legitimately own)
- MY OWN BOOKS analyzing Scientology (which they have ZERO copyright claim to)
Filing DMCA notices for works you don't own is perjury under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
Phase 3: Complete Account Termination
Amazon and IngramSpark didn't just remove controversial titles – they finally deleted my entire accounts, including books that had nothing to do with Scientology. Years of work, my entire catalog, my income – gone.
Why? Because I dared to:
- Compare their rewrites to the originals
- Document what they altered and removed
- Expose the illegal takeover of Scientology by government infiltrators
- Publish critical research they wanted suppressed
This isn't copyright enforcement. This is economic warfare disguised as legal action.
Precedents: We're Not Alone
Similar operations have successfully resisted CoS legal intimidation:
stss.nl (Netherlands)
Operating since 2010, offering free downloads of LRH materials. After Church of Scientology filed legal threats, stss.nl responded with detailed legal arguments. CoS withdrew rather than go to court.
I have documented this in detail in the book: "RTC's Illegal Weapons: Trademark - Copyright"
Pattern: CoS uses DMCA threats and platform pressure. They avoid actual courts where their claims would face judicial scrutiny.
The Challenge
We invite the Church of Scientology, Religious Technology Center, or any entity claiming copyright to file suit in Swiss courts under Swiss law.
They won't.
Why? Because in a real court:
- Discovery would expose their documents to scrutiny
- They'd have to prove valid succession from HASI (they can't)
- Forged testamentary documents could be examined
- Our Public Domain arguments would get judicial review
- A single precedent against them threatens ALL their copyright claims worldwide and their control over Scientologists
Instead, they hide behind DMCA abuse – a system allowing censorship without judicial oversight, perfect for suppressing truth without proving their claims.
Jurisdictional Position
Operator: College for Knowledge (Swiss Association)
Hosting: Flokinet (Romania/Iceland) – Not subject to U.S. DMCA
Applicable Law: Swiss Urheberrechtsgesetz (URG)
We do not recognize third-party takedown procedures (DMCA) as legitimate substitutes for judicial review. Any legal disputes must be filed in Swiss courts with full judicial oversight.
Contact for Legitimate Claims
If you represent an organization claiming copyright ownership and can provide:
- Documented legal succession from HASI (1977)
- Evidence that your claim survives our Public Domain arguments
- Willingness to defend your position in Swiss courts with discovery
...then contact us directly: by Contact Form
We welcome substantive legal dialogue. We will not respond to DMCA intimidation tactics sent to hosting providers.
DMCA Compliance (For Other Works)
For works where legitimate copyright exists (such as my own books or other authors' works), we comply with proper copyright procedures.
If you believe content on this website infringes your legitimate copyright (meaning works you actually created or legally purchased rights to):
Send a detailed notice via our contact form including:
- Your contact information
- Identification of the copyrighted work you own
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material (URL)
- Statement of good faith belief
- Statement of accuracy under penalty of perjury
We will investigate promptly.
However: Fraudulent DMCA claims (for works you don't own) are perjury and may result in legal consequences for the claimant.
